Dear Mother,
Among the things that I can tell you is that
I am now in North Africa. I had always thought
that the story books laided it on a little
thick when it came to these natives, [the?]
Arabs. I was wrong; they are like the
books point them only a little more- [illegible].
They wear practically awnything and some [are?]
in rags while others have quiet [loud clothes?]
I believe well dressed arab would look
like Eddie Cantor with a sky blue coat,
a red shriners hat, a large pillow slip, pad,
tied at the knees for pants, and slippers.
The others wear what look like great [matress?]
covers and frankly the boys always make me
think that they have a knife in those baggy
clothes of theirs. The kind of fellows one
likes to look at from a distance. All my love
to you and Nancy. I am well and happy
Jimmie
