April 19, 2007 Charles W. Steger President Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University Blacksburg, VA Dear President Steger, Members of the Athletic Department and the entire Virginia Tech Family, The enclosed ball caps were worn by the Washington National players, including Manager Manny Acts, in our game against the Atlanta Braves on April 17, 2007. The hats and the gesture merely symbolize the enormous sympathy and support felt by your neighbors here in Washington, DC. Our players wanted you to have the enclosed ball caps which have been autographed with messages of support. We hope they bring a small dose of comfort.
