Title

VT Stories Oral History with Neal Henshaw, April 13, 2017 (Ms2016-015)

Description

Neal Henshaw took a roundabout path to becoming a Hokie. He was born in Buckingham, Virginia, and despite being familiar with Virginia Tech, he decided to go to BYU and pursue Spanish education. After graduation, he worked several jobs to help support his family and put his wife through medical school. After finishing her residency, the Henshaws moved to Blacksburg where Neal began working in Newman Library. As a faculty member, Neal took advantage of free master's classes and got his master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology in 2013.

In this interview, Neal covers growing up, attending college, and starting a family. He talks about sacrificing his dream of becoming a basketball coach for his family, moving to and integrating into Blacksburg, and his life since.
