<p><span font-size="medium">Plymouth N.C. Sept. 17 1863 My Dear Wife, I rec’d two letters from last evening. one dated 30th ult. and the other 6th inst. I am sorry to hear that Harry is not well. I hope however, that he will soon recover. I have been enjoying very good health lately. The warm weather appears to be pretty well over. The Chills and fever is abating slowly. You ask about my watch. I suppose you can do no better than pay his price for repairing it. But he should guar- antee it for one year. I made no bargain with him as we could not tell what amount of work was to be done to it. The draft hit admirably</span></p>

Rosecrans (Brigadier General William Starke Rosecrans) & Burnside (Major General Ambrose Everett) have got them on the run again Every thing is working well. Well, I have no news, and as I don’t feel much like writing- for I just came in off Pickets and got no sleep last night so I will close. Hoping you are all well, and getting along pleasantly. The Isaiah Conley Civil War Correspondence and Research Materials includes two series of primary and secondary sources. Series I: Letters, Transcripts, and Narratives, includes 98 letters written by Isaiah Conley to his wife during his service in the 101st Pennsylvania Regiment between 1861 and 1865. This series also has unpublished and published versions of Conley's escape from Confederate captivity. Series II: Research Materials contains correspondence, photocopies, articles, maps, and research files for a history of the 101st Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry that was planned, but never completed, by a previous owner. This series dates from 1980s through the early 2000s.
