at 50. cts and $1.00 per day. I expect to tend a saw mill. I dont know weather I will rent it or hire, if I rent the mill I think that I can make a dollar a day. that is better than I can do at anything else. I just say. Since I commenced writing I have rented the mill the expense is very heavy on my part. I am at all expense except some of the castings breakes, I get one fourth of what the mill cuts and board myself. though I can get boarding + washing all for eight dollars a month, if I could sell lumber here for the same that you can there it would me from $1.50 cts to 2.00 per day

I am glad to hear that the prospect there is good and flourishing for wheat. I had a notion to go farther west but thought it best to wait and see what the radicals and negroes would do for us all in hour old mother state. I am afraid that we are in a bad [fit] at presant. if we have to live under there laws the thing is mortal. we have radical officers here in lee.
