While Jack was out in the Pacific theatre of the war your book plate went astray. He has had a copy struck off from the—what are they called—paper plates. Of course it’s not as good as the original. You would say, no doubt, that it’s not good at all, but a language can’t tell too much difference. He has turned all his gear inside out & upside down hunting for that plate & he’s so glad to have any sort of substitute.
