A letter does not take the place of talking to you and Nancy but I suspose it will have to do this time. The box came the 23rd and I don’t believe that I have ever gotten a nicer gift. Doug Cole and I bought some champange and we had quiet a party last night. In fact we made pigs of ourselves and I am sure both of us gained at least two pounds. Today being Chrismas we have the day off and I am having a grand time doing nothing. Of course I had diner with the men today and am glad to say ever- one looked perfectly happy and continted. France sent me a very nice sewing kit and shoe shinning kit which will certainly come in hand. I am going to try and answer the letter in the next few days for I have not changed a bit and still hate to write letters and probably will never write her if I don’t do so at once. There are about one hundred and twenty five men in the company and I have enjoyed working with them very much. So Jack came to see you the other day and you thought he had changed. I think he has changed too. Mrs. Rich wrote me a very nice xmas letter and of course she spoke of Jack’s marriage and she said that she had never seen Shirley untill the night they were married. Of coure I think that was very thoughtless of Jack but knowing Shirley a little I can understand it. Well I guess old Smith will be around sometime durning his leave.
