I was charge of quarters
Friday after xmas and after abuot
twelve hours off am charge of quarters
again. At present I am the only person
in our company area so things are
rather quick. With three exceptions
everyone who did not get a furlough xmas
got one this week. When the captain
returns Monday, I am going to ask
him about my furlough and I believe I
have a fair chance of getting it.
Otey and I went over to Greenville
Wensday and came back Thursday. I
certainly enjoyed myself but it was
not like being at home. All of you
</text>

I am sure that I will never be
able to get my feet back on the ground
after all this good food is gone. As yet
I have had no use for the sewing kit -
thank gosh - one of <s>no</s> Nancy's cards had
a memorandum of her weekly exper
exspendures - gas, etc - made me fell
right at home.
I did not get a card from either Jock
or Mrs. Rich. Seems rather strange
that those folks should have such a
hard time doesn't it. I did get a card
from Shirley Bond however - funny.
The coal men certainly were nice
to me.
