Morning. At 8 O Clock our Division Commenced to move, but we did not get started until 10 O Clock, When we started out under a melting sun. Marched about 18 miles- stopped about ½ miles east of Warwick Court House, at 9 O Clock that night. Wrapped our blankets around us and laid down and slept soundly until morning. Rested there until 2 P.M Thursday,&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</text>

By refering [sic] to a map you will see where we are. We are about 7 or 8 miles from Yorktown. Our first days march was a very hard one, and a great many gave out. Their loads were a little too heavy. I carried about forty pounds of baggage. I got very tired but worried it though. The Capt. (Captain William B. Sprague) is quite sick not able to do anything. Mullin (Lieutenant David W. Mullin) is not well&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</text>

Just think of whole counties with at least four out of five of all the houses burned. and not a fence to be found. Warwick Court House, which Is the County seat of Warwick County, is a little village of about 6 or 7 houses. This county is far inferior to what I expect- ed to see. We have a report here that the Merrimac was sunk the other day. We just put our Markee [sic]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</text>

                  <text>The Isaiah Conley Civil War Correspondence and Research Materials includes two series of primary and secondary sources. Series I: Letters, Transcripts, and Narratives, includes 98 letters written by Isaiah Conley to his wife during his service in the 101st Pennsylvania Regiment between 1861 and 1865. This series also has unpublished and published versions of Conley's escape from Confederate captivity. Series II: Research Materials contains correspondence, photocopies, articles, maps, and research files for a history of the 101st Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry that was planned, but never completed, by a previous owner. This series dates from 1980s through the early 2000s.</text>
