About a week ago I rec’d your letter written at Pittsburg. I have not heard from you since, but, our mails are irregular. I hope, however, you have been enjoying yourself. I would like very much to accompany you in your visit. But, as I can’t be with you, I hope you will have a pleasant visit. We are still here, without any definite knowledge of what we are to do. But we are making calculations to stay here this winter. All hands are at work putting up cabins, for winter quarters. Lieut. Mullin (Lieutenant David W. Mullin) & I commenced one last week. We got it raised yesterday. We expect to have it finished this week. We are building it of round logs 12 by 16 feet with a chimney in one end. I will give you a description of it when it is finished. We may have to leave them before winter. We are building at a venture. There has been several heavy frosts here within the last week. It is raining this afternoon. None of our Brigade were with them. I have not heard anything from Martin, for sometime. We had a Grand Review of all the troops here, last Wednesday by Gen. Peck (Major General John J. The health of the troops here is pretty good. The sick list is small. I see the draft has made some very good hits in the upper end of Bedford Co.
