John McLaren McBryde was president of Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (V.A.M.C.) from 1891-1907. His son, James Bolton McBryde, taught chemistry at Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (V.P.I.) from 1903 until his death in 1925.
