The
correspondence secretary is just
what the doctor ordered. I have always
needed something to carry writting
material, a place to keed [keep?] addresses,
and usually something to write on.
For the last few nights I have been
reading “Without Orders” and am
enjoying it very much.
Of course the “Pocket Entertainer”
is just what the title says. All
of the officers have a big time with
it and I am sure we have already
gone through the book twice and
we are still going.
Naturally the first thing to
catch my eye was the collection of
articles “These are the Generals” and
I read each carefully. I got a big
</text>

The men of
the 1st Division have a fierce devotion
for those two that few military
leaders ever achieve. In my oponion
the Allies owe those two a lot
for due to their decissions and leadership
(1st Div) hit the Germans and Italians like a
pile driver in N. Africa and went on to
be the spearhead in Sicily. The Division
was so successfull <s>was so s</s> that it
even made the Berlin newspapers -
“1st American Infantry Division - composed
of madmen, New York and Chicago gangsters”.
Of course Bobby Frice’s Hershey
bars have really taken a beating. The
first thing that happened when the
box <s>opp</s> was opened was a request
from each of the officers for a Hershey.
Didn’t mind though for I have
really had my share of their boxes.
</text>
