Our Organist here is splendid, a young<br /> man from New York. He gives a recital twice a week. <br /> and is doing wonders with our service. We have the <br /> new hymnal and we do enjoy it so much. <br /> Margaret is about ready to leave for Scotland <br /> so we are quite excited. I wish i were <br /> going too but even if I don’t go now, I’ll go as<br /> soon as I can, it will not be so easy for an American<br /> as a Britisher so I’ll have to wait awhile. <br /> This heat we are having is awful I think and for two<br /> days I have had hay fever - just enough to annoy.<br /> I hope your holiday was beneficial to you both and that <br /> as the days go by you will feel better. He served his country bravely and was killed on the beaches of Normandy during the D-Day invasion of 1944. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Collection consists primarily of his letters home during World War II. Also includes letters of condolence sent to the family following his death, congratulatory letters for being awarded the Medal of Honor, newspaper clippings, and photographs.
