This document gives a brief history about Piedmont Sanatorium and its conversion into a State Hospital by superintendent Charles W. Scott, M.D. There was a push in the 1960s for one the of the Tuberculosis sanatoriums to become a Mental Hygiene and State Hospital. With the help of outside doctors from other institutions, Piedmont's transition was much easier.
