Hand painted bowl from Smithfield Plantation

Description

Richard (Dickie) Cupp told me about the bowl in the cabinet in the Reading Room which he gave to Special Collections. He dug up the fragments of the bowl at Smithfield around 1954-55 when he was around 14. He and Dr. Claudius Lee from VT pieced the bowl back together. Mr. Cupp's great grandfather was a tenant farmer at Smithfield. From Tamara Kennelly, VT Archivist, August 15, 2002.
