Dr. Ezra A. “Bud” Brown grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana knowing he was expected to attend college. After graduating high school, he attended Rice University and after switching majors a few times, ultimately chose math. When he graduated from undergrad, he immediately entered a master’s program at LSU and continued with his Ph.D. He arrived at VPI in 1969, working as a professor and remained for 48 years.
In this interview, Bud covers the role of mentorship in his academic career, his journey in becoming a beloved professor, and his love of the school.
