Description
Dr. Jack Evans grew up in California before moving to Colorado for several years. He moved again in high school to Reno, Nevada, where he then attended undergraduate at University of Nevada, Reno and majored in biology. After graduation, he planned on moving to Virginia to be closer to his girlfriend (now wife) Mary, with the vague intention of working at Virginia Tech.
Jack’s professor at UNR connected him to Dr. Cranford, who then connected him to the Entomology Department, which landed him a job. After falling in love with the campus, he stayed to do his master’s and PhD in education, then began working as a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences.
In this interview, Jack covers his life as a first generation college student, moving across the country to Virginia, and becoming a beloved biology professor at the university.
