To some, the idea of "women in the home" may suggest a stereotype. In reality, the roles that women play at home, both historically and in the modern era, go far beyond the image of a wife and mother at home cleaning, cooking, and caring for children. These "Women in the Home" were pioneers, educators, experts, social activitists, and more.

Items in this part of the exhibit explore aspects of women in the home: developing home economics and household management, engaging in home demonstration and cooperative extension activities, writing from the homefront, exploring leisure time outside the home, and bringing their social lives into their family lives.
