The mill also oversaw the education and entertainment of the children of its employees, and took great interest in their activities and achievements.

The Fries Textile Mill oversaw the local YMCA as well, including the interior design of the building. Here, we see plans for redecorating the public spaces, dated May 24th, 1949.
Recreation in the town of Fries was provided by the Y.M.C.A. (built and run by the mill), as well as at events directly sponsored by the mill.
