Memoir 3, Page 90, James Haynes and Sons

"I refered him to a Grand Uncle--James Haynes and to his sons,--Milton + Amos who were now officers in the Confederate Army"

Of the three men listed here, Milton Haynes’ service record is the only one that can be found. According to these records, he served as the commander of artillery at the Battle of Knoxville. Amos Haynes does not have a service record; however, in his official report following the Battle of Knoxville, Lieutenant Colonel Milton Haynes references a subordinate named Landon C. Haynes who may be related to Lt. Col. Haynes and therefore John H. Woods.
