Gentle morning broke
How were we to know today would be their last smile
When you first heard the news
Your heart was left confused
And needing some reconcile

Where has the sun gone
How can we move on
When our heart's left in so much pain
Haven’t we got enough things that to try to hurt us
How can we feel safe

Friends who stood by our side
Teachers who always tried
To encourage our very best
Fathers who loved but one
A mothers growing son
And daughters with beauty unsaid
