"The right to eat bread in the sweat of the negroe's face"

This is a reference to a quote from Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, which is also a variation of a quote from the Bible, Genesis Chapter 3, verse 19: “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” For a complete version of Lincoln’s speech, click here.
