"Genl. Maury (Comds Mobile)"

Dabney H. Maury (1822-1900) was a major general in the Confederate Army. Prior to the war, he was a career soldier in the US Army. Following the battle at Fort Sumter, Maury resigned from the army and was appointed a colonel in the Confederate Army. Prior to taking over command of Mobile, he led troops at the Second Battle of Corinth and Vicksburg.
