Marionville Colligiate Institue
The teachers’ institute that Woods mentions here opened as the Marionville Collegiate Institute. Poor funding and the transfer of control to the Methodist Episcopal Church pushed its opening back from 1866 to 1872, with the building finally being completed in 1876. The name was changed again in 1910 to Ozark Wesleyan College, and was then relocated to merge with two other colleges in 1923 until its ultimate failure in 1932.
